The Arts of Activism 

"When we think of communication we often think of written words but there are other forms of communication we can utilize that are sometimes more effective."

Response1: This remark implies that we usually think of spoken or written words as the main means of communicating thoughts and information when we think of communication. The remark does, however, also highlight the fact that in some circumstances, alternative modes of communication may be even more successful. These substitute means of communication could include nonverbal cues like body language and facial expressions or visual cues like gestures, symbols, or pictures.

"We need symbols, they are a way of making groups, causes, messages,and ideals less abstract, more visible, and easier to convey . But symbols are slippery: they can and will be interpreted differently by different audiences".

Response2: Although symbols are an effective means of representation and communication, different people and groups will interpret them differently. The same symbol may have multiple meanings to different audiences depending on their cultural background, beliefs, and environment. The complex nature of symbol interpretation can occasionally result in misunderstandings or conflicts when the intended meaning of a symbol might not be understood.

"By Dramatizing those aspects of reality that are hard to see, or that we are reluctant to look at, we can make the invisible visible."

Response 3: Dramatization is a technique to bring hidden or difficult realities to light, making them more obvious and inspiring conversations or action to address them. It can be used in art, storytelling, or media presentations.

Khan Academy Performance Art

"Although the term encompasses a broad range of artistic practices that involve bodily experience and live action, its radical connotations derive from this challenge to conventional social mores and artistic values of the past."

Response1: This phrase alludes to a concept that covers a broad range of arts and crafts that incorporate live performance and bodily engagement. The term's "radical connotations" stem from its tendency to challenge prevailing artistic principles and traditional norms of society. 

"at its worst, performance art can seem gratuitous, boring or just plain weird.  But, at its best, it taps into our most basic shared instinct"

Response 2: This is entirely accurate; performance art is frequently both interesting to the audience and boring. Some performance art could appear to have no clear goal or to have unsuccessful methods of drawing the audience in.

Yoko Ono

"The couple invited the press to their hotel room in Amsterdam, where they stayed in bed for a week. This was to become their first “Bed-in for Peace,” project which was part of the peace movement that gained much publicity."

Response1: Watching the films of the couple stationed in their hotel room to promote peace was quite fascinating.One of the several ways they used their famous status and power to raise awareness of problems pertaining to social change and peace was this specific event.

"Art represents a way of showing people how you can think, and even though some people think of it as a beautiful wallpaper that you can sell".

Response2: She says that one can communicate their views and ideas to others through art. It is a means of expressing your thoughts, feelings, and ideas to others through a creative or visual technique.

Performance, Pedagogy, and Philosoph

"The act of experiencing a space, memory, or feeling is simultaneously an opportunity to reflect, meditate, and explore"

Response1: He argues that it stresses the fact that encountering specific aspects of life like places, memories, or feelings offers chances for active participation, reflection, and personal development rather than being simply a thing to do.  It invites us to take full advantage of these opportunities for reflection, meditation, and exploration in order to learn more about the world and ourselves.

"It was in the mentality of striving for the best that I was also taught that success meant economic stability and mobility."

Response 2: shows that he was raised with the belief that one should always strive for the best results and the highest standards He was brought up to believe that obtaining financial stability and the capacity to advance socially or economically is a necessary element of success. This is a great way of life.

 Notable performance art work "Cut Piece" by Yoko Ono was one of her presentations. In "Cut Piece," each member of the audience was asked to come up and cut a piece of her attire.  Additionally, as each person tore off a portion of her garment, drawing the audience's gaze, questions regarding Yoko's possible emotions surfaced. Men attempt to strip her naked but she continues the show despite looking uncomfortable.
