This is What I Know About Art

"If race has no history, it has no worthwhile tradition, it becomes a negligible factor in the thought of the world, and it stands in danger of being exterminated."

I choose this quote because in the book, Kimberly Drew stated that she did not want Black art to be negligible factor. She did not want Black art to be exterminated. She saw happening in her art history classes and she wanted to build a history online. This history online was Black Contemporary Art and it was posted on Tumblr, in which it made its debut on March 02, 2011. It's a good idea for her to make this tumblr because she simply wants everyone to learn everything about Black Contemporary Art and see how it affected the history of art.

"If you wanted to be in a classroom with other students of color then you should not have enrolled in art history classes".

This quote caught my attention because not only the professor was out of line for what he said but it proves that you can't say anything in social media because people can always find a way to report your posts and argue against your opinion. Kimberly's art professor thinks students of color are not involved in art at all, in which its something I highly disagree with. Kimberly was ready to defend her Facebook post in the meeting. However, the professor noted that it was very inappropriate for her to have taken his quote out of context. In addition, her professor stated she made her classmates feel "uncomfortable" during the discussion. Kimberly felt some type of regret for that post she made afterwards.

"With my then supervisor's permission, I posted a piece by the Guerrilla Girls to the Studio Museums Tumblr page in protest of Scanlan's inclusion and the exclusion of so many POC artists that I knew deserved to be in the exhibition."

It is interesting that Kimberly Drew posted the Guerrilla Girls in her Tumblr page because it does have similar events between Black Contemporary Art and the Guerrilla Girls. Both artists cannot bring their art piece into museums or galleries either doesn't meet their requirements or it's too uncomfortable to be shown in front of the audience.

From Kimberly's Blog in Tumblr

This photograph caught my interests because it's simply both people in love together. This is shown to be black love. Both have high interests for each other and share a lot in common. This picture shows that if you both truly love each other and promise to look out for each other, you can do anything in life with each other and share their life together.
