Introduction

Hello class! My name is Mathew zurita. Most of my friends call me DJ. You can call me either one I don't mind. I'm a junior in NJCU and I'm majoring in photography. I've been practicing with my film camera for awhile now and capturing good angles. When the times comes, I can finally get ahold of a digital camera, learn how to edit and work my way into my field. Not sure who I'm going to work for but I still have enough time to decide so I'm not in a rush. Wishing everyone a smooth and good semester this year.

A photo of my cat name ash in the living room. This was printed out in the dark room from my photo 1 class last semester.
Understanding Patriarchy                                                                                                                      "We live in a farm country, isolated from other people. Our sense of gender roles was learned from our parents, from the ways we saw them behave."
It's crazy in my opinion that the parents taught kids what they know about gender roles. The kids can sometimes get the wrong idea because sometimes the parents teach them the incorrect answer about anything.
"Citizens in this nation fear challenging patriarchy even as they lack awareness that they are fearful, so deeply embedded in our collective unconscious are the rules of patriarchy."
I think people in general are scared to speak up on their mind about anything. Their afraid of what others might say or recieve a different reaction on that person's opinion. Some people don't like others opinion so they judge them for it with no hesitation.

How Memes Are Making Protest Art More Powerful
"In recent internet history, politicians have set themselves up for ridicule by providing the perfect conditions for their memeification. More than just humorous interventions, these memes undermine the pretensions of power and respect politicians use as a de-facto method for quieting dissent and broadcasting their often contemptuous messages."

Memes have intervene with politicians and made a lot of humorous interventions. The people decide that instead of listening to their speech, important message, or broadcast, they decide to make humor out of it and get the people what they want, which is entertainment and people love entertainment as well.

"The politically motivated manipulation of imagery is hardly a new phenomenon, but the internet is changing how it is distributed and who can partake."

The internet has definitely overtake the meme culture and it changed history throughout the years with historical images and documents over the years. Iconic images like Robert Capas, the falling soldier for example.

Memes Are Our Generations Protest Art
"At their core, all memes, regardless of their politics, are a tool for expression."

Today, memes help with not only humor but for articulate specific points, intensify emotions, and amplify ideas . Jokes nowadays can make either everyone laugh or take it personally.

"Memes can spread far more quickly than the songs or art projects of previous generations, and there's such a low barrier to entry that anyone can make them; they can go viral in a matter of minutes."

This quote is actually true because people are so quick to make anything into a meme. A good example would be Donald Trump's mugshot that occured in county jail in Atlanta, Georgia, on August 24, 2023.
