10-4 Intervention Project Ting

The two memes, the one we did in class and this one I made, have nothing in common. I just see homeless people starving outside when there are literally warehouses of food decaying and being wasted instead of given away.

"Photographed images do not seem to be statements about the world so much as pieces of it, miniatures of reality that anyone can make or acquire." -  Photographs may become a part of the way we see the world because they are so good at capturing and preserving moments, the sensation of that time, the happiness, grief, or whatever emotion one is feeling, and a few years later, one looks back at the photograph and has a sense of nostalgia, wanting to relive if not be grateful for that moment.  This remark attracted my interest since it underscores the beauty of how photography may be utilized, viewed, and the variety of photographs.

"To photograph is to appropriate the thing photographed. It means putting oneself into a certain relation to the world that feels like knowledge -- and, therefore, like power"

- That whenever you take a photograph, you are claiming or assuming ownership over the topic you are capturing. You have chosen to photograph a certain moment or object. Taking a photograph entails placing oneself in relation to the surrounding environment. It suggests that photography is an intentional act of framing and composition in which the photographer chooses what to include and exclude from the image. It reflects the idea that photography is a way of interacting with the world and creating a visual representation that can convey a sense of knowledge or understanding to both the photographer and the viewer. It highlights the artistic and interpretive aspects of photography as well as its capacity to communicate and evoke emotions and ideas.

Activism Chapter 1

"Most people would not define themselves as activists.... Yet in a sense, we all do forms activism everyday."  -Activism doesn't always involve large protests or high-profile campaigns; it can manifest in subtle but meaningful ways. Whether it's advocating for a cause on social media, making eco-conscious choices, volunteering in the community, or simply having conversations about important issues, we all have the potential to contribute to positive change in our own unique ways.

Chapter 2

The quote "nothing comes from nowhere" underscores the interconnectedness of ideas, actions, and events. It suggests that everything has a source or influence, emphasizing the idea that our thoughts and creations are shaped by the context and experiences from which they arise.

"Perfection is the voice that creeps up while you're working on a project and whispers over your shoulders"

This quote captures the essence of the creative process. It reminds us that the relentless pursuit of perfection can be counterproductive. Perfectionism often leads to self-doubt, overthinking, and a fear of making mistakes, which can paralyze creative work. Instead, it encourages us to focus on the act of creating, to embrace imperfections as part of the journey, and to allow ourselves the freedom to learn and grow from our creative endeavors. In essence, it advocates for progress over perfection.

"Creativity isn't a product, its a process."

This quotes highlights a fundamental truth about creativity. It emphasizes that creativity is not something that can be neatly packaged and delivered as a finished product. Instead, it's an ongoing, dynamic, and often messy process of exploration, ideation, experimentation, and refinement.

Idea of gardening, planting flowers, trees, etc...

1. issue - There are no flowers in NJCU, very little gardening going on, planting activities happening. Just trees and bushes,  creating awareness for a more natural beauty on campus. Raising awareness for more flowers.

I'm Brandon Majano, and I strongly believe that New Jersey City University should consider the introduction of more flowers across our campus. Flowers possess a remarkable ability to enhance our environment in a myriad of ways. Firstly, they bring a touch of natural beauty that can brighten even the dreariest of days. Their vibrant colors and gentle fragrances have a soothing effect on everyone, reducing stress and promoting a sense of tranquility, which can be particularly beneficial during the often hectic college life. Beyond aesthetics, flowers serve a crucial ecological purpose by attracting pollinators such as bees and butterflies. This fosters a healthier, more biodiverse ecosystem right here on campus. In addition, it allows students to connect with and learn from the natural world in their everyday surroundings. It's a simple yet effective way to educate and inspire a love for nature.

By introducing more flowers into our campus landscape, NJCU can create a welcoming and inspiring environment that promotes overall well-being, making it a more fulfilling place to learn, study, and connect with the beauty of the natural world. Ive made a small Origami Flowers and put them around campus and a sheet of papers of before and after photos (shown up) that NJCU looks better and more beautiful with more flowers then just green trees and bushes.
(more photos soon, maybe)
