Quotes
“Both our parents believed in patriarchy; they
had been taught patriarchal thinking through religion”.
Goes to show you how much of an effect religion has on people’s way is thinking and actions.
As their daughter, I was taught that it was my role to serve, to be weak, to be free from the burning of thinking, to caretake and nurture others.
Find it ironic how this role for women still exists in many parts of the world. Some women agree with it and some don’t.
“Memes undermine the pretensions of power and respect politicians use as a de facto method for quieting dissent and broadcasting their often contemptuous messages”
Shows how no matter what position and reputation you may have, you can still become a meme and be clowned if deemed.
“But with Farage’s back turned, Dance, sitting just a few rows back, revealed a crude handwritten sign to his audience; it read, in all caps, he’s lying to you,” with an arrow pointing to Farage.
I loved the simplicity in his tactic which proved to be fruitful and in the end he made his point.
“ Simple to make and simpler to distribute, they can communicate a stance or message at a glance and express the same feelings experts say are behind conventional protest art”.
Memes are easily shareable and it doesn’t take much for a good name to go viral especially when it’s relating to current events or trending topics.
“The media [of protest art] have changed somewhat, but the purposes are similar: the blaming of villains, the identification of victims, as well as outrage at the villains and compassion for those victims,”
Goes to show that modern problems require modern solutions, or the benefits of being able to use innovative methods to attack problems and bring about the change in which you seek.
